Clinician Spotlight Featuring Kristie Simmons

What is your current role?

Nutrition Director of Virtual Services

What is your background?

I became a RD in 2011 and have been working in the field of Eating Disorders since 2012 through Eating Recovery Center. I have supported patients of all ages at all levels of care.

How would you describe yourself?

I am enthusiastic and passionate about this work! I think there is so much room for innovation in the field and always looking for how I can be a part of that process.

What is your favorite thing about your career?

Helping people find peace and balance in their lives

How did you get involved with eating disorder recovery?

I worked at a general children’s hospital and provided consults for a few ED patients and realized this is where my passion lies.

What is your proudest accomplishment (personal or occupational)?

It is both personal and professional: I took a leap from a stable onsite role at ERC to build our virtual program to pursue my passion for innovation and to seize the opportunity to travel the country in a converted short school bus with my husband. Being able to do both and see this program grow from 4 patients to over 400 is something I’m extremely proud of.

What is something people do not know about you?

I aspire to have a self-sustaining homestead one day

If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?

You don’t need all of the answers now – trust the process, enjoy the journey
